Statement
As a youth I had a fascination with older cars and motorcycles. Part of it was out of necessity and part of it was curiosity. Junkyard trips provided not just parts, but a brief glimpse into a maze of history; races, accidents, owners, a million secrets. The metal shapes seemed to reflect more than just aisles of battered autos. The engines and body styles invited curiosity. I liked the repetition and order to their assemblage.
I began to transfer my ideas into bronze while working at an art foundry. At night I would cast and fabricate my own designs. The sculptures I made are minimal abstractions of larger, more complex structures. They are shapes that are prevalent in our recent social history. I started selling well enough to build my own studio and become a self-employed artist.
Over the last twenty years I have continued to be a creative force in the Santa Fe art community and many other parts of the United States. Currently I am building a new studio in the Historic Santa Fe RailYard.
